BITTEL-PETTERSSON

Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Åsa Bittel (-Pettersson) obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M) in 1987 from Stockholm University Sweden. 
Before joining the Swedish Bar in 2010, Åsa Bittel worked at the Court of International Arbitration (ICC) in Paris, European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in Geneva and during 20 years at an intellectual property firm where she was responsible for the fight against counterfeiting worldwide for a high-reputation house. 
She has also served as the Swedish Government’s representative to the Swedish School in Geneva. 
She is accredited by the judicial authority in Geneva as a Swedish<->French interpreter and translator. 
In 2021, Åsa Bittel joined Eardley Avocats as an independent off counsel. 
Under her original title « Advokat », Åsa Bittel works as a lawyer (advice and judicial) both in Switzerland and Sweden but also internationally. In Switzerland, she is admitted to the EU-EFTA lawyers list under the supervision of the Bar Commission of Lawyers in the canton of Geneva.

Memberships

Åsa Bittel is a member of the Swedish bar where she serves as Secretary to the Foreign section. Åsa Bittel is also member of the Swedish Swiss Chamber of Commerce.

Law and other activities

Åsa Bittel advises individuals and organisations on cross-border private client and international family law matters, in particular on international succession planning, with a particular focus on advising on asset protection aspects and resolving cross-border inheritance disputes.

Åsa Bittel deals with a wide range of cross-border family work including prenuptial agreements, wills, choice of law agreement and liquidation of matrimonial property following death or divorce. She acts as executor of wills and administrator upon nomination by Courts. Her work usually has an international perspective, often involving inherited wealth, tax implications, substantial assets or income.
