J.-Potter van Loon completed his law degree at the University of Geneva in 1979 and passed his bar examination in 1983. He carried out his training with the law firm Lalive & Budin, Geneva (1980-1982), with a sollicitors firm in London (1980) and with an international law firm in Rotterdam. J.-Potter van Loon is registered at the Geneva Bar and member of the Swiss Bar Association. As attorney-at-law, he is active both in local and international matters.

Side activities

1997 – 2000 Honorary Representative of the Government of the Isle of Man.
2001 – 2011 Honorary Consul-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Geneva.
2010 – 2015 Municipal Councilor and later Mayor of the Municipality of Troinex (Geneva).
